Black History Month is a special time to come together and celebrate the remarkable impact the African American community has made throughout the course of American history and beyond. From local legends to world-renowned thinkers, inventors, and more, there are countless figures deserving of recognition during this month-long celebration. In order to honor some of the many pioneers and visionaries that have hailed from both here in Trenton and all throughout the nation, Trenton City Hall has announced a dynamic display for the whole family to enjoy.
Throughout the month of February, Trenton City Hall invites visitors to come enjoy an educational Black History Month exhibit. This display, which will be available to guests 8:30am through 4:30pm Monday through Friday, will feature a whole host of fascinating icons of African American history, including some local legends. The exhibit will be hosted at Trenton City Hall, located at 319 E State St, Trenton, NJ 08608. Some of the featured individuals whose stories are on display include a number of local icons, most notably Trenton’s emergency responders and all-star athletes. From Super Bowl contenders to world-renowned Olympians and more, legends are made right here in the Capital City. Whether you are a history buff or just looking to learn more about the rich history of the African American community in Trenton, every member of the family is certain to be wowed by this celebration of culture and connection.
This program is presented by the City of Trenton’s Department of Recreation, Natural Resources, and Culture. Throughout the year, Trenton puts together thoughtful, culturally-connective programming to share in celebrations and unite our community as one.
