Trenton City Museum to Host “What’s NEXT For Kids”

On Sunday, January 28th, you and your family are invited to the Trenton City Museum for an engaging day of exploration and creation. Inspired by the museum’s latest exhibit, “NEXT: Reimagining the Future Through Art”, the museum welcomes your little artist to come and be inspired as they craft and create their very own works of art inspired by those featured in the exhibit. The day’s festivities will kick off at 10am at the Trenton City Museum’s Ellarslie Mansion, located at the heart of Cadwalader Park at 299 Parkside Ave., Trenton, NJ 08606. Please note that if you plan on attending, all little ones must be accompanied by an adult. This event is free to attend, but advanced registration is required. If you’d like to secure your spot, please feel free to enroll by filling out the RSVP form, linked here: Register – TCM.

The “NEXT: Reimagining the Future Through Art” exhibit features the work of over 40 diverse pieces, each telling their own unique story about what our future may hold. During this kiddo-friendly workshop, guests will have the opportunity to hear directly from NEXT curators regarding the vision behind the exhibit and what inspired these artists to create these striking works of art. Your little ones will also have the opportunity to hear from Kaya Pope, a Video Artist and featured artist in the NEXT exhibit. After this thrilling talk has concluded, visitors will have the opportunity to create their own masterpiece, with instructions provided by the TCM’s Janis Purcell. This workshop is certain to bring the museum to life for even the youngest visitor, so you won’t want to miss this chance to get creative!

The “NEXT: Reimagining the Future” exhibit is the Trenton City Museum’s latest juried gallery. This exhibit was juried and curated by Diane Ciccone and Jane Malloy. In total, the exhibit features 40 pieces by 30 artists from throughout the region. The gallery features a wide variety of mediums, from painting and photography to film, multi-media, and more.
