Taft Communications Celebrates 40th anniversary With Move to Trenton
Taft Communications, a purpose-focused communications consultancy, commemorated its 40th anniversary with a grand opening to celebrate an exciting move to Trenton’s repurposed Roebling complex, located at 35 Clark Street in the Chambersburg neighborhood. Taft’s move delivers on its own commitment to operating with purpose and adds momentum to the historic New Jersey state capital’s ongoing revitalization.
Taft opened its first office in Princeton in the 1980s and over the past four decades has served more than 450 clients, including many NJ-based companies and non-profits.
“We are thrilled to welcome Taft Communications to Trenton,” said Mayor Reed Gusciora. “In addition to housing state government, Trenton is home to a vibrant arts community, diverse mix of restaurants, and a growing mix of established companies and entrepreneurs who are powering its revitalization. Taft’s commitment to socially responsible business and nonprofit ventures is a great match for where the city is heading.”
The approximately 4,800 newly renovated office space is expected to host at least 20 Taft employees as the company targets a new era of growth. The space was renovated in partnership with developer Hx2 Development LLC, Innovative Commercial Interiors (ICI), and Ware Malcomb to accommodate a flexible hybrid work environment that fosters collaboration and mentorship that is at the core of Taft’s agency culture and success.
“This has been a true collaboration between our partners and would not have been possible without the support of the Trenton community,” said Mark S. McNulty, CFO. “The move and retrofit to our needs are thanks in part to incentives available through entities like Greater Trenton, the NJ Economic Development Authority and the City of Trenton.”
Taft’s relocation to Trenton’s Urban Enterprise Zone (“UEZ”), a 3.06 mile commercial and industrial section of the city targeted for economic development, was the natural next step for the communications consultancy given the convenient public transit access to New York City and Philadelphia and better positions the firm to service city, statewide and national clients. Taft joins over 800 small businesses since 1983 participating in the Urban Enterprise Zone to incentivize business and economic activity in the Capital City to the tune of millions of dollars of investments and improvements to the city’s landscape.
Upon lease signing, Taft made a commitment to contribute to the local economy and plans to continue and launch new partnerships with regional organizations. For launch, Taft has partnered with Artworks Trenton, Trenton’s creative hub which offers educational programming, exhibitions and public art initiatives. Taft will be hosting a 6-month exhibition of Trenton area artists including Leon Rainbow, John Gummere, and Leni Paquet-Morante.
“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 40 years as an agency than to begin our next chapter with a commitment to our home state,” said Taft CEO Ted Deutsch. “This move represents Taft at our best — a commitment to support New Jersey communities, and to create a work space that encourages creativity and innovation. We expect our new home in Trenton to lay the foundation for another successful 40 years.”
