NJ State Library Announces Men’s Health Webinar
On Friday, November 17th, you are invited to join the New Jersey State Library for a compelling and candid discussion surrounding men’s health. This virtual webinar will be held from 12pm to 1pm on Zoom. If you are interested in being part of the conversation, advanced registration is available here: Register – NJSL. This seminar is completely free to attend, so all are welcome to join and learn more. The day’s conversation will be led by Dr. Eddie Akrout, a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician with Capital Health. No matter where you’re at on your health journey, you’re certain to walk away from this webinar feeling empowered to take on whatever health goals lie ahead.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees will have the opportunity to walk through some of the most important aspects of men’s health, including:
- Age-related preventative screenings
- Low testosterone
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
- Erectile dysfunction
While health is a critical conversation for anyone to have, it is of particular importance to men, who are statistically far less likely to seek out regular medical screenings and assistance. Research conducted by the Cleveland Clinic in 2022 noted that up to 55% of men report that they do not seek out regular medical screenings. This issue is especially prevalent amongst men of color. Data notes that while up to 53% of white men do not seek out regular medical treatment, that number skyrockets to up to 63% for non-white men. There’s a number of reasons men may avoid medical treatment, including fear, stigma, or other social determinants. However, if we want to remain our happiest and healthiest selves, it is critical that we remain up to date on any necessary health check-ins.
Your host for the afternoon’s event is Dr. Eddie Akrout, a Family Medicine Physician with Capital Health. After growing up right up the road in Burlington county, Dr. Akrout also completed his Residency Training at Inspira in Vineland, NJ. When Dr. Akrout is not working with patients, you can find him on the golf course. During the webinar, Dr. Akrout will be available to share his expertise, recommendations, and offer insights into many of the health conditions which are most impactful to the male population.
