New Jersey State Museum to Host Climate Talk

The Earth is our shared home, and as we all know, there’s no plan(et) B. No matter who you are, we are all tasked with a shared mission of stewarding the environment and keeping our planet beautiful for the next generation. As the climate continues to heat up, many of us are left wondering why it’s happening, what the cause was, and what we can do to help protect our planet in the future. To help further unpack this vital topic, you are invited to the New Jersey State Museum for an expert-led climate talk.

On Saturday, November 18th, you are invited to the New Jersey State Museum for a fascinating conversation on climate. This event will kick off at 4 p.m. at the NJSM’s state-of-the-art Planetarium, located at 205 W State St, Trenton, NJ 08608. Admission is free, and advanced registration is not required. Dr. Zachary Labe, a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University and NOAA GFDL, will lead this conversation.

Guests will gather under the Planetarium dome for an insightful day of discussion and education. Throughout the afternoon, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the multiple lines of evidence that climate scientists use for monitoring and predicting global climate change. Guests will first visualize the critical indicators of human-caused climate change using real-world data and then discuss the origins of climate science, which dates to the 19th century. Finally, guests will have a first-hand glimpse at the types of extreme weather and other climate impacts we might expect over the next few decades, especially here in New Jersey. Although climate change can be a complex topic, by the end of this discussion, you should leave feeling equipped for whatever lies ahead.
