Freedom Fridays Returns for September

It’s almost the end of the month, and you know what that means: Freedom Fridays is again back at the Trenton City Museum!

At the end of every month, Trentonians look forward to an evening of open mic performances, community, and connection, courtesy of the Trenton City Museum. Freedom Fridays invite artists of all mediums, from poets to performance artists, to hit the stage and share their talents with a supportive audience of fellow creatives and friends. This month’s festivities will be on Friday, September 27th at 7 p.m. at the Trenton City Museum at 299 Parkside Ave., Trenton, NJ 08606. If you plan on attending, please note that a $5 donation is required for admission. All proceeds go to supporting the incredible work of the Trenton City Museum.

The festivities for this month’s event will be hosted by Son of Black, a renowned regional poet and playwright. In addition to some compelling open mic performances, guests will also have the opportunity to hear from this month’s featured poet, Angel Mossucco. Mossucco is a local social justice poet addressing several themes and phenomenons relevant to today’s society. Interweaving principles of equity, inclusion, and lived experiences into powerful poetry, Mossucco is sure to impress.

The Trenton City Museum, a destination for creation and culture for Trentonians and beyond, sponsors Freedom Fridays. The Ellarslie Mansion has been home to a carefully curated collection of art, artifacts, and souvenirs related to Trenton’s fascinating past for decades. From its industrial roots to the artists and creatives who have called Trenton home, you’d be hard-pressed to find a collection more committed to the Capital City. In addition to an impressive array of exhibits, the Trenton City Museum also offers several community and educational events each month, enriching visitors near and far with days of discovery.
