Experience “Vision and Voice” at Passage Theater

Experience “Vision and Voice” at Passage Theater

The arts are a powerful avenue for knowledge, connection, and personal development. It is through performance and creation that many find a way to share their truth and find their passion. This phenomenon is true for budding artists young and old, including those right here in our own city. If you’d like to see what some of our community’s talented young creatives have been up to, you’ll want to stay tuned for this fantastic opportunity.

On Thursday, August 31st, guests are invited to enjoy the work of Passage Theatre Company’s talented group of students in their summer presentation. These Trenton-based youth have been working tirelessly all summer to master the creative process during Passage’s summer hip-hop camp, “Vision and Voice”. The program includes 15 youth ranging from elementary school to high school who have spent the summer diving into the world of poetry, hip-hop, and dance. The presentation will take place at 6 p.m. at the Mill Hill Amphitheater, located near Mill Hill Park. In the event of rain, the show will be held inside the Mill Hill Playhouse. The performance is free to attend, so all are welcome to come out and support this dynamic group of young people.

“Vision and Voice” will feature performances from over 15 youths from the Trenton community who will be sharing a performance inspired by the work of Trenton’s very own Poor Righteous Teachers. The younger performers have put together a single group poem that all will take part in. Meanwhile, the older performers have each written their own. The evening will end with a choreographed dance number all the students will be participating in.

The evening’s performance, as well as the “Vision and Voice” program, is brought to you by the visionary minds at Passage Theatre Company. Passage is an invaluable resource of the arts in the Capital City, putting on an artfully curated collection of socially relevant new plays and arts programming. They seek to offer a space in which members of the community can relate, connect, and identify with the stories being told on stage. Passage seizes the transformative power of the stage to share tales of the human experience, and inspire a ripple effect of change in our community. Passage also provides a number of educational events and opportunities, inviting the community to try their hand at the creative arts. With inclusion, compassion, and empathy at the core of their work, Passage is a true gem in the Trenton community.
