Tackling Debt with the New Jersey State Library
For the overwhelming majority of Americans, debt is just a part of life. Whether it’s student loans, car payments, or a pesky repair that just couldn’t wait, having an outstanding line of credit is often a necessary resource when navigating this economy. However, debt can quickly turn from a helping hand to a spiral of expenses if not used strategically. Since debt is for many an inevitable part of life, having the skills in our toolkit to tackle debt with care can make all the difference in our financial futures.
On Wednesday, August 23rd, you are invited to join the New Jersey State Library for an afternoon of conversation all about making debt work for you. The webinar will be held from 12 pm to 1 pm on Zoom. Attendance is completely free, but advanced registration is required. If you do plan on attending, please be sure to enroll for the webinar here: Register – NJSL. Attendees are no doubt in wonderful hands, as Amanda Griffith, Financial Well-being Impact Officer and Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor at the Credit Union of New Jersey, will be taking the helm and teaching you how to tackle any debt you may have.
It’s no secret: Americans are in debt. Research indicates that the average U.S. household owes approximately $222,000 in mortgages, $17,000 in credit card debt, and $29,000 in auto loans as of last year. In today’s economy, with skyrocketing inflation raising the costs of even the most basic of goods, making ends meet is nothing short of a feat. Thankfully, this upcoming webinar will help equip your family for success and walk you through a number of important topics, including:
- The different kinds of debt
- The benefits and costs of credit
- The warning signs you have too much debt
- How to improve your credit report and score
- How to tackle your debt and avoid pitfalls
- How to rebuild good credit
- How to stay out of debt
By the conclusion of the conversation, you will be better equipped to handle the debt you have now and begin taking steps to eventually become debt free. No matter your situation, there is always hope for you, and now is the time to start tackling even your toughest financial burdens.
