Old Barracks Announces Spring Lecture Series
Spring is on its way to the Old Barracks, and a world of history awaits. If you want to kick off learning something new this season, the Barracks have announced an exciting lineup for their spring lecture series.
Kicking off on Wednesday, March 29th, the Old Barracks has officially announced the launch of their revived Spring lecture series. The lectures will be held in person at the Barracks, located at 101 Barrack St, Trenton, NJ 08608. Throughout the sessions, attendees can unpack two incredible books, “Washington Crossing” by Robert W. Sands Jr & Patricia E. Millen and “George Washington’s Revenge” by Arthur S. Lefkowitz. The authors will attend each of these sessions to discuss these selections and give readers more profound insights into their work. More information regarding purchasing these selections before the following can be found here: Spring Lecture Series. When preordering the books, please note that they will not be shipped; instead, Old Barracks staff will hold your copy at the Front Desk upon ordering.
The first session with Robert W. Sands Jr. and Patricia E. Millen will be held on Wednesday, March 29th, from 6-8 pm. Their book, “Washington Crossing,” explores the history of the iconic site where George Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River all those years ago. The two will explore the PA and NJ parks and the minds behind their creators. The authors will also examine Emanuel Leutze’s iconic masterpiece “Washington Crossing Delaware” and its importance as a symbol of American patriotism. The author’s talk will last 45 minutes, and light refreshments will be served. A Q&A portion will follow the main lecture. In addition, authors will have books available for sale and autographs.
The second session, scheduled for Thursday, April 13th, from 6-8 pm, will feature the “Washington’s Revenge” selection. Author Arthur K. Lefkowitz will guide audiences through George Washington’s 1777 campaign in New Jersey and why this was a crucial component in the United States ultimately emerging victorious. Furthermore, Lefkowitz will expand on the details of this military campaign and discuss how Washington’s strategy turned the tide, narrowly escaping British defeat. A Q&A portion and a book signing will also follow the session.
This event is hosted by the Old Barracks, one of New Jersey’s iconic historical spots.
