Disney on Ice Skates Into Trenton This Weekend
In the words of Queen Elsa, the cold never bothered me anyway! Families are in for an afternoon of frosty fun because Disney on Ice’s “Find Your Hero” is skating to Trenton’s CURE Insurance Arena this weekend.
Disney on Ice is bringing the magic to the Capital City for one weekend only. Their eye-catching new show, “Find Your Hero,” is certain to be a delight to both little ones and parents alike. World-class skaters will bring the rink to life with your favorite Disney stars. The show features fan favorites, including Moana, Tangled, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast. Your favorite Disney tunes, intricate costumes, jaw-dropping stunts, and moments from your favorite movies will accompany these world-class athletes.
Trenton Daily had the unique opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at everything it takes to bring Disney on Ice to life. Per Disney on Ice, it takes an average of 14 hours and 25 crew members to bring this performance to life. In addition, it is estimated to take approximately 425 manual hours to install, maintain, and break down a Disney on Ice production. No doubt a labor of love, the talented cast and crew are dedicated to helping you and your family create magical memories that’ll last a lifetime.
We spoke with Disney on Ice cast member Sydney Streu regarding this weekend’s upcoming performance. When asked when and how she started skating, Sydney stated, “I started skating when I was five. My dad was a professional hockey player, so I basically grew up in the rink. He wanted me to play hockey, but I liked all the dresses and all the sparkles, so I started figure skating and never stopped!”
In discussing what it means to be a part of bringing this magic to life, Sydney reflected, “It’s incredible. I can’t even put it into words, really. You work so hard your whole life – I never thought I would be here, and so getting to put that magic on the ice every day for so many people and see all the smiles, the kid’s faces – it’s incredible.”
When asked if she had a favorite part of the show, she said, “Our show is just great. I like every part, so it’s kind of hard for me to pick one, but personally, I really love Frozen and Elsa, and the transition she has is so magical.” Regarding what she hopes families take away from the experience, she noted, “Obviously, I hope everyone is happy! I think we all work really hard to put on a great show to satisfy everyone, young and old. Like I said, seeing the little kids all dressed up and smiling is so, so fulfilling. I hope everyone leaves the arena smiling with memories they won’t forget.”
