Paid Internship Opportunities Available for Mercer County Students
Attention all students! Suppose you’re searching for an educational and productive way to spend the summer. In that case, the Mercer County Student Internship Program is a fantastic opportunity to acquire meaningful career training and get paid.
The County seeks to provide local high school and college students with a paid opportunity to learn hands-on skills and their practical applications, setting the stage for a fruitful career ahead. Students must be at least 15 years old and attend a Mercer County school or university to be eligible. Applications will be accepted until the first week of May. Application reviews will begin once the window to submit applications has officially closed. College students receive priority and will be notified of their placement in the program by the 3rd week in May. Likewise, high school students will be notified regarding orders no later than the 3rd week in June. Compensation will be $15 per hour for high school students and $17 for college students. There are also unpaid opportunities available for college students seeking credits. The program will be held from June through Labor Day.
Upon acceptance into the program, students will be scheduled for onboarding, which includes a pre-employment physical and drug test at Robert Wood Johnson’s Occupational Health Facility. Students under 18 must have a parent/guardian with them at all times and must submit their working papers before their first day. Students 18 or older will have to consent to a background check.

Some departments students will have the opportunity to work with include Economic Development, Human Resources, the Library, the Park Commission, and more.
