Free Museum Passes Available at the Trenton Public Library

For those looking for a fun, affordable way to explore with your family, the Trenton Public Library has just the solution for you!

Patrons of the Trenton Free Public Library are eligible to access museum passes for various wonderful institutions in the Garden State. To be eligible, patrons must be at least 18 years or older, a library member, and currently in good standing. Households may check out one pass at a time, with a limit of one pass per month. These passes cannot be renewed. Passes can be picked up and dropped off at the library’s reference desk. Through this beautiful program, patrons can gain entry to the following museums:

  • Old Barracks Museum (101 Barrack St, Trenton, NJ 08608): A favorite spot in the City of Trenton, the Old Barracks Museum brings the past to life. With the museum passes, guests can bring up to 4 guests; the museum pass will check out for a 4-day loan period. The Old Barracks explores colonial and revolutionary history themes to life through various exhibits, preservation efforts, and interactive activities. The Old Barracks’ mission is to uplift New Jersey’s history and celebrate the stories of the diverse people who made our great state what it is today.   • The Newark Museum of Arts (49 Washington St, Newark, NJ 07102): The Newark Museum of Arts boasts New Jersey’s largest museum title. They display significant collections of contemporary American art, international pieces, ancient artifacts, and more. With the museum pass, guests can bring up to 2 adults and all children in the household under the age of 17. In addition, the museum currently has a variety of exciting exhibits on display, including Animal Kingdom, Unexpected Color, Worlds in Collision, and more.   • Museum of the American Revolution (101 S 3rd St, Philadelphia, PA 19106): The Museum of the American Revolution explores the complex history and the diverse people and events that led to America. The museum offers an unmatched collection of artifacts, immersive galleries, theater experiences, and more to inspire an appreciation for our nation’s fight for independence. The museum pass admits up to 2 adults and four youths (ages 6-17). Since its opening, the Museum of the American Revolution has welcomed thousands of visitors and brought our nation’s founding to life.

All museum passes are available for a four-day loan period. There is a $5 late fee for each day the pass is overdue. If you place a pass on hold and do not pick it up within 24 hours of notification, you will be considered a no-show, and the pass will be offered to the next person in line. If the pass is over five days overdue, it is considered lost, and a replacement fee will be applied. Replacement fees are $250 for the Old Barracks, $100 for the Newark Museum of Arts, and $200 for the Museum of the American Revolution. As demand for these passes is high, two consecutive no-shows may result in a 2-month block from utilizing the service.
