Trenton Area Soup Kitchen Seeks Donations for the Upcoming Holiday Season
The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) recently announced its 2022 holiday wish list for local families in need. Although TASK serves families in the Trenton area and beyond year-round, year after year the holidays prove to be one of their busiest seasons. Especially after a year of widespread financial hardship, it is evident that the rising costs of necessities impact us all.
Some of the items TASK is currently seeking include:
- Sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets (M-XXL, must be new, dark colors, no logos)
- Backpacks
- Blankets
- Gloves, hats, and socks
- Puzzle books
- Frozen turkeys
- Boxed stuffing
- Boxed mac and cheese
- 100% juice
- Jars of gravy
- Canned cranberry sauce
Any donations can be dropped off at TASK (72 Escher St., Trenton, NJ) at the back door Monday-Thursday 8:30 am-3:30 pm, and on Fridays from 8:30 am-1:30 pm. No appointment is necessary to drop off items.
Aside from food donations, TASK offers a variety of other opportunities to help support its patrons. Financial contributions are vital to TASK’s operations – beyond their food pantry, TASK offers a variety of services including case management, job search assistance, adult education, and more. However, TASK would not be able to offer such critical resources without the support of generous donors and partners. If you’re interested in supporting TASK financially, donations can be made here: Donate – TASK. With over 40,000 people in our area facing hunger, every penny helps to serve a family in need.
If you’re looking for a hands-on opportunity to help, TASK also offers a multitude of volunteer opportunities. Each year, more than 4,000 volunteers help TASK to carry out its life-changing work. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, including serving meals, preparing hygiene kits, wrapping utensils, and more. If you’re interested in donating your time, please contact TASK’s Patron Services at (609) 695-5456 x100 or check out the volunteer calendar here.
The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen is a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed the hungry in the Trenton area and offer programs to help patrons pursue self-sufficiency and a higher quality of life. Their needs-based approach meets patrons where they are and provides them with the tools needed to improve their situation. In 2020 alone, TASK made and served over 403,912 meals to individuals in need.
If you want to contribute to this transformative work, please consider donating some time or resources this upcoming holiday season. If you have any questions, please contact TASK at (609) 695-5456. Now let’s get out there and make a difference!
