THT Kicks-Off #WhyILikeTrenton 2022 Photo Contest
Trenton Health Team announced the #WhyILikeTrenton22 photo contest inviting amateur photographers to share original photos showcasing our community via Instagram throughout the month of April.
“The #WhyILikeTrenton contest attracts great photos, encourages local talent and celebrates our community,” said THT Executive Director Gregory Paulson. “We are proud to be part of this City and pleased to highlight local assets and talent.”
This year, THT is partnering with Starbucks to host an exhibit of #WhyILikeTrenton22 photos to be curated by art photographer C.a. Shofed, who also is a contest judge. The exhibit at 102 S. Warren St. is planned for July.
To enter the contest, follow THT on Instagram and tag @trentonhealth when you post original photos taken in Trenton on Instagram with #WhyILikeTrenton22. Contest begins April 1 and ends at 11:59 pm April 30, 2022. Winners announced and prizes awarded in early May.
To encourage participation, THT partnered with Trenton photographer Habiyb Shu’Aib on a Street Photography Tutorial video, explaining photography basics and what makes an interesting photo.
THT will announce four winners, including “most likes,” and first, second and third place winners selected by our panel of judges including Artworks Executive Director M’Kina Tapscott, mural/graffiti artist Leon Rainbow @aerosoleon, and photographers Habiyb Shu’Aib @beloved1_, and C.a. Shofed @shofedart.
“Most likes” and “First prize” winners will each receive a $100 gift card. Prizes also will be awarded for Second Place ($75) and Third Place ($50). If the winner is under 18, a parent/guardian will receive the prize on the winner’s behalf.
Contest entries should be original photos taken in our city in accordance with COVID-19 safety guidelines, and any applicable ordinances. Photographers must have permission from anyone featured in a photo, as well as permission to access to any location. See full contest rules.

- Follow Trenton Health Team on Instagram @trentonhealth
- Post your ORIGINAL photo celebrating a positive aspect of our community
- Use #WhyILikeTrenton22 and tag @trentonhealth
- Include a caption telling us about your photo
- Winners will be notified via Instagram
- Participants agree to allow THT use of contest photos, including display and fund-raising purposes
- Review and follow complete contest rules.

THT launched the #WhyILikeTrenton photo contest in April 2019 to share pride in our city by highlighting Trenton’s assets and talent. Last year, First Place went to @tipwitdaclipz for a black and white photo of family members watching fireworks and Second Place to @driftchiko for a unique perspective on a war memorial.
