COVID-19 Vaccination Locations Expand as Eligibility Increases

All New Jerseyans 16 years of age and older will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination beginning April 19, two weeks earlier than the state had originally planned.

According to the state’s data dashboard, 1,796,798 New Jerseyans had been fully vaccinated as of Monday, April 5, 2021. The state’ goal is to vaccinate 70 percent of its adult population – about 4.7 million people – by June 30, Governor Phil Murphy said. The following additional groups are eligible to receive a vaccination; individuals ages 55-64; individuals 16 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities; higher education educators and staff; librarians and library staff; communications, IT and press; real estate, building and home service workers; retail financial institution workers; sanitation workers; laundry service workers and utility workers. A list of everyone currently eligible for vaccination can be found here.

As vaccination eligibility increases, Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes indicates the number of locations in Mercer County and surrounding areas that are administering COVID-19 vaccinations for eligible recipients will continue to expand, with about 30 sites currently operating in Mercer County alone, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. The current list of COVID-19 vaccine locations in Mercer County and throughout the state can be found here.

The County of Mercer hosts two vaccination sites – one at CURE Arena in Trenton, in partnership with Capital Health, and the other at Mercer County Community College’s West Windsor campus. To receive a vaccination at either site, you must first register with the NJ Vaccine Scheduling System (NJVSS) at https://covidvaccine.nj.gov or by calling 855-568-0545. You will be notified when it is time for you to schedule an appointment.

If you are eligible for a vaccination but have not yet been notified about available appointments in the NJVSS, there are additional ways to get vaccinated:
• Make an appointment directly with a vaccination location that does not use the NJ Vaccine Scheduling System, listed here.
• If you work or volunteer at a select health care facility, make an appointment through your place of work.
• Veterans who receive care from VA health facilities or live in VA long-term care facilities, may be eligible for vaccines through the VA. Learn more here.
