Mercer County Library System Celebrates National Library Week
April 4 -10, 2021 is National Library Week (NLW). During the pandemic libraries have adapted to their communities’ needs by expanding resources that continue to offer access to technology, multimedia content and educational programs. This week, the Mercer County Library system plans to do just that.
This week, the Mercer County Library System is celebrating NLW with a county-wide BINGO contest. Each library branch in the county will offer BINGO cards to residents of all ages. Each card has a variety of activities to perform coinciding with NLW. Perform five activities on the card and return it to your local branch by April 12 for a chance to win a prize. Several libraries throughout Mercer county will also be hosting multiple events for residents to add to the week-long celebration.
“Libraries are places of learning and connection for all ages and backgrounds, so this crisis has challenged us to work creatively to adapt services while our facilities are closed,” said American Library Association President Wanda Kay Brown. “From bridging the digital divide to addressing learning loss to aiding job seekers and small businesses, we know library services are essential to campus and community recovery and resilience.”
Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes said, “Mercer County Library System for the past year has consistently come up with innovative ways to serve our library patrons, and our library team continues to inspire creativity in and outside our libraries during this remarkable year.”
