Capital Area YMCA Hosts Drive Up Food Give-A-Way

Known for its diverse organization of men, women, and children joined together to fulfill the shared commitment of “nurturing kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility,” Capital Area YMCA has established a drive-up food giveaway to accommodate the needs of residents during these difficult times.

The Capital Area YMCA has partnered with worldwide pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, which aims to “defeat diabetes, rare bleeding disorders, growth hormone-related disorders, and obesity.” Together in collaboration, these two organizations seek to support families in areas like Trenton with food distribution, especially amid COVID-19.

Free non-perishable and perishable goods are now available for pickup at the YMCA on most Fridays from July to August at 431 Pennington Avenue in Trenton.

When picking up distributed items, the YMCA requires individuals to wear a mask. There is also a drive-through option for items to be placed in the trunk of a vehicle.

Below is a list of dates, pick up times, and items available:

  • Friday, July 17, 2:00 p.m. – Perishable items
  • Friday, July 24, 3:00 p.m. – Non-perishable items
  • Friday, July 31, 2:00 p.m. – Perishable items
  • Friday, August 7, 3:00 p.m. – Non-perishable items
  • Friday, August 21, 3:00 p.m. – Non-perishable items

With a deep commitment to strengthening the community, the YMCA’s Drive Up Food Giveaway will ensure that residents of the Trenton area are well taken care of.
