Today, Mayor W. Reed Gusciora, along with Public Works Director Wahab Onitiri and Parks and Recreation Director Paul Harris, announced the return of the City of Trenton’s Citywide Cleanup Initiative, a community-wide effort to tackle waste, reduce illegal dumping, and keep neighborhoods safe and clean.

“Illegal dumping creates hazards, harms our environment, and lowers residents’ quality of life,” said Mayor Gusciora. “The Citywide Cleanup gives everyone a safe, environmentally responsible way to dispose of bulk items and unwanted debris.”

Cleanup will take place by ward, each Saturday in October:

• North Ward: October 4
• West Ward: October 11
• South Ward: October 18
• East Ward: October 25

Residents should place items at the curb by 7:00 AM on their scheduled day. Crews will collect yard waste and furniture. Items not accepted include construction debris, chemicals, televisions, electronics, and unbundled branches longer than 4 feet. To arrange pickup for these materials, residents can call the Street Division at (609) 989-3200.

“Illegal dumping has been a challenge for cities everywhere, but in Trenton, we are tackling it head-on. This initiative makes it easier for residents to do the right thing,” said Director Onitiri.

This past spring, city workers removed 201 tons of debris from neighborhoods across the city. These efforts provide residents with a reliable way to dispose of bulk items and help reduce illegal dumping in the community.

“This is more than removing debris. It’s about pride in our community, preserving our neighborhood spaces, and making sure every family has a greater quality of life in Trenton,” said Director Harris.
