Community Invited to Discuss Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with Trenton Health Team

Trenton Health Team (THT) invites the community to join a free online discussion with artist, educator and author Endia Beal exploring the realities and challenges for women of color in the workplace.

The event “Am I What You’re Looking For?,” to be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., encourages participants to reflect on workplace practices through personal and stories of women of color and to address the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion. Join the discussion via Zoom.

Beal’s work merges fine arts with social injustice, using photography and video to spark dialogue addressing bias. Her book “Performance Review” was selected as one of the “Best Photobooks of 2020” for Vogue Italia.

Beal is featured in several online editorials including The New York Times, NBC, BET, Huffington Post and National Geographic; she also appeared in TIME Magazine, VICE Magazine, Essence, Marie Claire and Newsweek. Her work has been exhibited in several institutions.

This will be the second of THT’s three-part “How Spaces Shape Us” online community speaker series, supported by The Nicholson Foundation, intended to spark civic dialogue around social justice and equity issues.

“THT has worked with community partners for more than a decade in Trenton to improve health equity,” said THT Executive Director Gregory Paulson. “We recognize health cannot improve without addressing community conditions, social justice and bias. Equity is at the heart of our mission and drives our work.”

The final speaker event in April will feature Bryan C. Lee, who lived in Trenton as a child and is an architect, educator, writer and design justice advocate. Discussion will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021.

“We are grateful to The Nicholson Foundation for enabling us to bring these nationally recognized speakers here to share their unique perspectives with our community and help us develop creative solutions,” Paulson said.
