Younity, Moms Demand Action, and Councilwoman Teska Frisby Unite Trenton for Wear Orange Weekend
Younity (formerly Womanspace) invites the public to join us at Party in Orange, a community-widegathering to honor lives lost to gun violence and uplift those working toward a safer future.
In the spirit of community, Younity is proud to combine our 2nd Annual Community Appreciation Day with this year’s Party in Orange. Together with Moms Demand Action, The City of Trenton and Councilwoman Teska Frisby, we’re uniting our resources, voices, and hearts for a powerful day of solidarity, action, and connection during Wear Orange Weekend for National Gun Violence Awareness.
The day begins at 7:00 AM at Donnelly Homes (875 New Willow St.), where the Trenton Community Street Team hosts registration for the Anti-Gun Violence March. At 8:00 AM, led by A Better Way and Isles, Inc., participants will march through several Trenton neighborhoods, concluding at Cadwalader Park (1000 West State Street)—the site of our Community Appreciation Day and Party in Orange.
From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Cadwalader Park will come alive with live performances, music, food, family-friendly activities, advocacy stations, and resource tables—all centered on our shared commitment to end gun violence and support survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence.
“This event is about more than remembrance,” said Nathalie S. Nelson, President & CEO of Younity. “It’s about standing together—across neighborhoods, across sectors—to say we believe in a future where safety and dignity are not privileges, but rights. Together, we are stronger than abuse, stronger than violence, and stronger than fear.”
Inspired by the national Wear Orange movement—created to honor Hadiya Pendleton, a Chicago teen killed by gun violence—this gathering reflects the power of local activism. This year’s event also follows Younity’s recent presentation of The Barbara Boggs Sigmund Award to Angela Ferrell-Zabala, Executive Director of Moms Demand Action.
In her acceptance speech, Ferrell-Zabala declared:
“We’re not exaggerating when we say that easy access to a gun is a death sentence for people in a domestic violence situation… Domestic violence and gun violence are not separate problems. They are deeply connected threats to our collective safety.”
All are welcome. All are needed.
