TCHS Inducts Newly Elected Student Government Association
On Wednesday, December 18th, Trenton Central High School celebrated the induction of its 2025 Student Government Association. From the moment their names entered the ballot until the final vote was cast, this dynamic group of students has been hard at work on the campaign trail to win their seat on the TCHS Student Government Association. With campaigns won and the seats now filled, there was only one thing left to do – celebrate!
To help ring in this momentous occasion, the newly elected members of the TCHS SGA were welcomed into their new roles by a number of friends, family, and distinguished guests, including Superintendent James Earl, Mayor Emeritus Douglas Palmer, Council President Crystal Feliciano, and Vice Principal Deirdre Brown. The afternoon’s affairs were presided over by Trenton Municipal Clerk, Brandon Garcia, who was on-site to help formally welcome these students into office.
At the swearing-in celebration, the following students were inaugurated into office: President – Kamiya Long, Vice President – Mya Harrison, Secretary – Jennifer Gabriel, Treasurer – Diamond Anderson, Public Relations – Allison Duarte, History – Lindalva Batz, Sergeant-At-Arms – Johnnie Edwards, Cultural Affairs Chair – Kevin Zuniga, Community Service Chair – Wilbur Gomez, and Student Outreach Chair – Oscar Santos. These students will undoubtedly play a major role in shaping the future of Trenton Central High School, exemplifying what it means to be an engaged student leader.
Mayor Emeritus Douglas Palmer addressed the students with a stirring reminder that it only takes one person to make a major difference in the world around them. The afternoon’s comments were a heartening reminder that although it is easy to believe that we as individuals can only do so much, it only takes one encounter or one act of kindness to radically change the course of someone’s life. From Trenton’s highest office to the halls of Trenton Central High School, having Mayor Palmer present to address and inspire this next generation of leaders was a meaningful measure to demonstrate the magnitude of this tremendous achievement.
A particularly poignant moment of the afternoon’s celebration was the pinning ceremony, which was conducted by Council President and Trenton Central High School Teacher Leader, Crystal Feliciano. One by one, the students were adorned with the same pin worn by officials of the City of Trenton. As the students embark on their leadership journey, these pins will serve as a heartening reminder of the privilege and responsibility of stepping up as a leader. As the afternoon’s celebrations came to a close, one could sense the anticipation in the air of all the exciting opportunities to come.
Congratulations to the remarkable students of the 2025 Trenton Central High School Student Government Association, and we cannot wait to see what wonderful things are achieved by this next generation of leaders!
