NJ State Museum to Host Small Explorers Open House

On Saturday, August 24th, the New Jersey State Museum will be kicking off the launch of the 2024-2025 Small Explorers program with an Open House, and you are invited to be a part of the fun! The Small Explorers Open House will take place from 10am to 5pm at the New Jersey State Museum, located downtown at 205 W State St, Trenton, NJ 08608. This program is specifically targeted at Trenton-area families with children ages 0 to 5 years old. The Open House, as well as any sessions of Small Explorers moving forward, are completely free for families to attend. At the Open House, guests can drop in and enjoy explorer kits and snacks to go. There is no registration required for this event.

Small Explorers is an educational and engaging playgroup for the New Jersey State Museum’s youngest visitors. Each month, the museum offers up a morning of curated fun based on a theme related to the museum’s many exhibits and hands-on interactive offerings. Themes of past installments have covered a variety of subjects, including the stars, the ocean, animals, music, and much more. While little ones spend the morning playing and learning alongside one another, parents are encouraged to connect with each other, share resources and tips, and find some like-minded friends with fellow members of the community.

Additional details regarding upcoming installments of Small Explorers can be found on the New Jersey State Museum event calendar, linked here: Events – NJSM. While registration is not required for the upcoming Open House, please note that future installments of Small Explorers do require advanced registration. The monthly installments of Small Explorers following the Open House have limited space and slots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. For this reason, parents are encouraged to enroll early, as well as sign up for future sessions. To learn more and to get enrolled for future installments, please contact Susan.Kozak-Buckley@sos.nj.gov to get started.
