NJTL of Trenton, which creates opportunities for success by enriching the lives of under-resourced youth through innovative tennis, education, and mentoring programs, will celebrate its 30th Annual Gala on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Mercer County Indoor Tennis Center, West Windsor, NJ. This exciting event will feature a tennis exhibition, auction, buffet, open bar, dessert and music!

This year’s special guests include Kim Clijsters and the Princeton Women’s and Men’s tennis teams. Kim Clijsters is a former WTA World No.1 in both singles and doubles. She won 41 singles titles, including four Grand Slam titles: three at the US Open (in 2005, 2009, and 2010) and one at the Australian Open (in 2011). She was also runner-up in four Grand Slam singles tournaments.  The esteemed Princeton University players will join Kim on the court for an entertaining and exciting exhibition. The NJTL of Trenton student-athletes and graduates will also be joining in on the on-court fun. Proceeds from this signature event directly benefit our Trenton-area kids by supporting the following programs:

• NJTLT’s Summer camp & Academic Creative Engagement (ACE) programs
• Ashe Elite’s Indoor Tennis season
• Training and paying for Trenton Public School teachers, and technology for students to participate in NJTLT Minecraft Education Program
• Year-round Community Outreach programs
• Tennis equipment, educational supplies, and more

Long-time NJTLT supporters Sheryl & Joseph Punia are this year’s honorees. The Punia’s, Mercer County natives, are avid tennis players who have been married for 45 years. Sheryl’s distinguished career in education and drug prevention allowed her to witness the difference that strong support and services mean to a family in need, to help students be successful and families survive difficult and, many times, overwhelming circumstances. Joseph, a Carnegie Mellon BS and Wharton MBA graduate, has a successful career in commercial real estate. Longtime supporters of NJTL of Trenton, the Punia’s are dedicated community members, who support many local charities alongside their children.

Long-standing supporters Albert Stark and Ginny Mason will serve as Honorary Co-Chairs, and Julia Benedict will serveas Event Chairperson. The success of this event keeps NJTLT moving forward.
