The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey will be recognized as “The Chamber of the Year” at the 124th Annual National Black Business League Conference

The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) announced that it will be recognized as “The Chamber of the Year” at the 124th Annual National Black Business Conference, in Atlanta, GA on August 24, 2024, at the Booker T. Washington Black Business Black-Tie Awards Gala.

The National Black Business Conference (NBBC) will host 3 days of commerce-driven education, networking, exchange, and activity with events and functions tailored to meet the attendee and partner expectations, accessing a combined alliance of 120,000+ members and 400+ chambers/leagues throughout the country and abroad, at the Hilton Atlanta Hotel in downtown Atlanta Ga, from August 21 – 25th.

Washington, with excellence, while paying homage to the memory of Harry Alford and Kay DeBow, co-founders of the National Black Chamber of Commerce by leading an organization whose core mission is to defy perceptions, by demonstrating the relevance of Black People and the success of Black owned businesses. We have, and will, continue to contribute to the greatness of America,” said John E. Harmon, Sr., Founder, President, and CEO, AACCNJ. “We thank the National Black Chamber of Commerce for this esteemed recognition.”

“When considering the qualities for the National Black Chamber of the Year, several factors were evaluated to ensure the selected chamber exemplifies excellence, impact, and leadership within the community, these standards of excellence, are exemplified by the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, said Charles H. DeBow, III, President & CEO, National Black Chamber of Commerce.

Some of the measurable areas to receive the recognition were: Community Impact and Engagement, Membership Growth and Retention, Leadership and Governance, Innovation and Adaptability, Financial Stability and Growth, Networking and Collaboration, Training & Development, Recognitions & Accomplishments, Public Relations & Marketing, and Quantifiable Results (metrics and data) demonstrating the chamber’s impact.

On February 17, 2022, the AACCNJ was bestowed with the 2021 “Chamber of the Year” Award by Larry Ivory, Chairman, National Black Chamber of Commerce and President & CEO, Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce (ILBCC), during the AACCNJ’s Annual Circle of Achievement Awards Gala, in Garfield, NJ.

On March 7, 2014, in Washington, D.C., John E. Harmon, Sr., was installed as the Chairman of the Board of the NBCC, Harmon served two consecutive terms. New Jersey man named chairman of National Black Chamber of Commerce
