While it is a gift which many of us take for granted, the ability to hear is one of life’s richest experiences. From the crashing waves of the ocean to the birds chirping in the breeze, theses noises underscore the soundtrack of our lives. Sound is something which connects us, inspires us, and deeply enriches our understanding and perception of the world around us. As we get older, however, our hearing may begin to suffer due to a number of natural causes. And when the time comes to seek out corrective care for these issues, navigating the system can present quite a challenge, especially with regards to elderly patients. However, with the right tools and resources in place, handling your hearing can once again be a breeze. If you’re an older adult and aren’t sure where to begin on your journey to optimal hearing, the New Jersey State Library is “hear” to help at their latest upcoming webinar. 

On Thursday, May 23rd, guests are invited to participate in the New Jersey State Library’s latest webinar, which will feature representatives from The Time to Hear is Here. The Time to Hear is Here is a local advocacy group devoted to connecting patients with accessible and impactful hearing and healthcare resources. Your host for the afternoon will be Ron Gottardi, a volunteer with The Time to Hear is Here. This virtual conversation will take place from 12pm to 1pm on Zoom. While the New Jersey State Library’s webinars remain a free resource for Garden State residents, in order to best accommodate their guests, advanced registration is required. This eye-opening conversation is certain to empower those in need of hearing help, so be certain to secure your spot to dive deeper into this important conversation. 

As we get older, it is anticipated that for some of us, our hearing may begin to change and deteriorate. What is not anticipated, however, is the difficulty many Americans face when seeking out the care they need. Throughout the afternoon, Mr. Gottardi will highlight some of the many aspects of navigating the hearing health world, including healthcare and insurance protocols, advancements in hearing technologies, and more. Mr. Gottardi will also explore the surprising prevalence of hearing problems among the elderly, as well as steps that can be taken in order to best support your journey to improved health and hearing outcomes. Mr. Gottardi currently serves as a consultant, educator, researcher, and public speaker. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rutgers and Temple Universities and was also an adjunct Associate Professor at Drexel University.
