Light Up the Sky with the New Jersey State Museum
Few things are more beautiful than the night sky on a cloudless evening. The dazzling stars and bright moon paint the perfect picture for an unforgettable night. Yet, lying beyond the horizon is a sky full of beauty and mystery. If you’d like to learn more about the magic of the night sky, you’re invited to an evening of learning and light with the New Jersey State Museum.
On Friday, May 12th, you are invited to the New Jersey State Museum for a Sky Talk and live viewing of the night sky. A second session will also be held on Friday, May 19th. The event will kick off at 7:30 pm at the NJSM’s state-of-the-art planetarium at 205 W State St., Trenton, NJ 08608. The possibilities are free to attend, so you only need to bring your sense of curiosity and wonder!
The evening will begin with a Sky Talk, inviting participants to learn more about the fascinating figures and phenomena beyond the cosmos. After the conversation has concluded, guests are invited to participate in a short drive to Washington’s Crossings, where participants can enjoy a star observation. Guests will be joined by Amateur Astronomy Association of Princeton members, who will be available to teach more about the fascinating world of astronomy. Telescopes will also be available to guests to get a closer look at the night sky up above.
In the case of inclement weather, not to worry! Attendees will still have the opportunity to journey into the stars, thanks to the NJSM’s planetarium. If the weather is not cooperative on the day of the events, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a free full-length presentation inside the iconic NJSM planetarium dome. The planetarium recently underwent some upgrades, including the addition of an Ultra-High Resolution 8K projection system. With an all-immersive, high-quality display, your experience in the NJSM’s planetarium will undoubtedly be an intergalactic thrill! If you’d like to learn more about the fascinating programs featured at the planetarium, please visit the NJSM website here: Planetarium – NJSM.
