Soirée Under the Stars to Honor John S. Watson, Jr. and NJM Insurance Group

If an evening under the stars for a fantastic cause sounds like your ideal Friday night, stay tuned to discover how you can be part of one of this weekend’s most exciting affairs.

On Friday, May 5th, the Princeton-Blairstown Center will host their annual fundraiser, Soirée Under the Stars. The celebration will occur from 6 pm to 9 pm at Princeton’s Springdale Golf Club at 1895 Clubhouse Dr, Princeton, NJ 08540. The evening’s events will include food, drinks, awards, and fun. This year’s honorees include John S. Watson, Jr., Co-Executive Director for the New Jersey Conservation Foundation and the NJM Insurance Group. Tickets are available for $150 for individuals; a $100 key is public for young professionals under 30. Various sponsorship tiers are also available. If you wish to attend, you can secure your tickets online here: Tickets – Soirée Under the Stars.

The Frank Broderick Award is bestowed upon an individual who demonstrates a deep commitment to social justice, compassion, and selflessness. These qualities are exemplified by John S. Watson, Jr., who was integral in achieving integration of Princeton Summer Camp and the mobilization of advocates who fought for the racial integration of Princeton University in the 1940s. Today, John is the Co-Executive Director of the New Jersey Conservation Foundation. As an organization, they are committed to conservation and environmental justice in the Garden State. Through his time with the NJ Conservation Foundation, John has worked tirelessly to enhance equitable access to vital green space in urban areas. John has also diligently engaged communities of color to enjoy our natural lands and seek career paths in the field. Watson has also served on the board of several organizations doing phenomenal work in Trenton, including Isles, the Princeton Area Community Foundation, and more.

The evening’s other featured prize, the Reverend David H. McAlpin, Jr. Community Champion Award, is given to an organization devoted to social responsibility by investing human and financial resources to advance the lives and opportunities of people from historically marginalized communities. This year’s winner, NJM Insurance Group, demonstrates these values through a deep commitment to the communities they serve. In addition to serving their customers well, NJM serves Garden State and beyond through their support of various community organizations. Because of the generous support of NJM Insurance Group, organizations like the Princeton-Blairstown Center and even the team at Trenton Daily are empowered to continue the meaningful work being carried out in the community. As a company devoted to enriching the communities they serve, NJM Insurance embodies the essence of this prestigious recognition.

The hosts of the evening’s events, the Princeton-Blairstown Center, are in the business of changing lives for some of the youngest members of our community. The Center offers several services, including DEI programming, outdoor education, team-building retreats, summer camp experiences, and more. Funds from this year’s soirée will go towards the Center’s Summer Bridge program, which helps to negate summer learning loss through the promotion of literacy, social-emotional learning, STEM subjects, and service learning, as well as through hands-on experiences like canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and more. Princeton-Blairstown Center has a special connection with the Capital City, as dozens of Trenton’s students have had the opportunity to experience their life-changing programs over the years. As a beacon for equity in the region, the Princeton-Blairstown Center continues to uplift young people from historically marginalized communities, providing them with priceless outdoor experiences.

As an attendee, you’ll have the opportunity to celebrate with NJM Insurance Group and John Watson, who will be joined by his family members, including Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman. If you have any questions or want to learn more about the evening’s events, please get in touch with the Princeton-Blairstown Center at 908-362-6765 for additional details.
