Join the NJ State Museum for Small Explorers: Farmers and their Gardens

A day full of farm-themed fun and learning at the New Jersey State Museum? Sounds udder-ly fantastic to us!

Join the New Jersey State Museum on Saturday, May 13th, for the upcoming installment of their Small Explorers initiative. For May, the theme for the museum’s youngest learners is “Farmers and their Gardens.” Sessions are available at 9:45 am, 11:00 am, and 12:15 pm. Slots are already complete for 9:45 am and 11:00 am, so if you wish to attend, please sign up as soon as possible! Registration is available here: Register – Small Explorers. Children aged five and under, as well as their guardians and older siblings, are invited to put on their boots and become farmers for the day.

During this month’s program, little ones will have the opportunity to enjoy a reading of “A Farmer’s Life for Me” by Jan Dobbins. This heartwarming tale follows the busy day of a family and their friends working and playing on the farm. From the morning until the gates close at night, young readers will be transported to a day in the life of a farmer. Following storytime, you and your child will have the chance to explore the “Pretty Big Things” gallery and learn more about the farm’s growing food and fantastic creatures. Then, it’s the perfect time to show the kids why their home is called the Garden State! After the day’s activities, little ones can show off their wild side by creating an animal mask to take home.

The Small Explorers series invites young children and their families for a monthly educational, exploration, and fun morning. The free programs bring together children throughout the community to learn the ins and outs of an exciting new topic each month. The NJSM uses the resources available at the museum to encourage learning through reading, play, crafts, games, and more. Previous sessions have covered many subjects, including sea monsters, dinosaurs, constellations, and many other fascinating topics. These events are an excellent opportunity to let little ones learn in an exciting and creative setting, so be sure to make it out to one of these fun-filled sessions.

The New Jersey State Museum, a destination for learners of all ages and stages of life, sponsors these events. Whether you’re interested in art, history, archeology, or more, the NJSM has you covered with various exhibits and educational opportunities. In addition, the NJSM boasts a collection of thousands of artifacts, art pieces, and memorabilia related to their enthralling shows. If you’d like to read more about the NJSM and see what other exciting events are planned, visit their website here: Home – NJSM.
