Kiwanis Club of Trenton Invites You to Find Your Park

Spring has officially sprung, and parks all over Mercer County are blossoming with signs of the season. Located within Mercer County are over 4,000 acres of mountains, meadows, marshlands, baseball, tennis, mills, quarries, and docks. The Kiwanis Club of Trenton invites you to “Find Your Park” during an afternoon of discussion with Wandy E. Lacy McNeill, Director of Marketing and Community Outreach for the Mercer County Park Commission.

On Wednesday, April 5, the Kiwanis Club of Trenton will host an afternoon of exploration, highlighting the hidden gems in our community’s abundance of parks. The event will begin at 12:15 pm at Leonardo’s II, located at 2021 Brunswick Ave, Lawrence Township, NJ 08648. Admission to this event is free, and lunch is available for $20 per person. If you plan to attend, RSVP by April 4, 2023, by contacting Alex Treece at (609) 647-8305 or griptreece1953@gmail.com. All are welcome to be a part of this exciting event.

Throughout the afternoon, Ms. McNeill will guide attendees through the wide world of the Mercer County parks system. Right in our community, there are farms, marinas, lakes, and rivers just waiting to be explored. Even the most avid outdoorsman will be surprised by the county’s immense natural resources. “There are many Mercer County taxpayers who are subsidizing our beautiful parks and facilities but have never used them. I am working with our Executive Director, Aaron Watson, to change that,” Ms. McNeill said.

Ms. McNeill has decades of experience engaging with diverse communities, including during her career at Merrill Lynch. She assisted African American financial consultants in their marketing efforts and became Vice President of Direct Marketing. She then became Vice President of Diversity, where she trained financial consultants and regional vice presidents in diversity and sexual harassment prevention. In addition, she led a training and administration team during her career at the State of New Jersey’s Treasury Department.

Ms. McNeill earned her bachelor’s degree from Douglass College, Rutgers University, and completed a program at the Institute for Women’s Leadership at Rutgers several years later. A former Jack and Jill of Mercer County member, Ms. McNeill is the proud mother of three and grandmother of four.

This program is brought to you by the Kiwanis Club of Trenton, a volunteer group committed to improving the lives of children in the City of Trenton and beyond. They spearhead several service projects throughout the year, including providing school supplies at the start of the school year, raising funds to provide children with a summer camp experience, and providing the community with hot meals during Thanksgiving week. They also host several events, like the upcoming parks luncheon, to further enrich the community. If you are interested in joining or would like to learn more about getting involved with service projects, you can contact the Kiwanis here: Contact Us – Kiwanis Club.

A world of discovery awaits you, so submit your RSVP as soon as possible. Also, if you have any questions before attending, please feel free to submit any questions at the contact form linked above. Mercer County’s parks are just waiting to be explored; now, all they need is you!
