TD Charitable Foundation Announces 17th Annual Housing for Everyone Grant Competition

With higher-than-ever demand, accessing affordable housing continues to be a struggle nationwide. Although community housing organizations are working tirelessly to ensure that they meet the needs of the populations they serve, scarcity of resources can further complicate an already complex issue. Yet, these nonprofits serve selflessly every day, and now the TD Charitable Foundation is here to give back and help this critical cause.

The TD Charitable Foundation recently announced the launch of its 17th Annual Housing for Everyone grant competition. Through the competition, 37 nonprofit organizations from across 17 states and Washington D.C. will be chosen to receive funds. This year, the competition will focus on organizations providing services like rental assistance, rehabilitating affordable housing properties, and bolstering long-term capacity to meet the needs of their clientele better.

At a time of rising inflation and increasing rental costs, families already struggling have an increasingly difficult time accessing the housing that was so vitally needed. Although housing nonprofits provide vital services to families all across the country, organizations have been finding themselves scrambling to meet the demand for both affordable units and rental assistance, all the while having to manage organizational capacity struggles.

“Housing organizations are on the front lines of this growing affordable housing crisis. They are called upon time and time again to meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable members of our communities. We expect the demand for affordable units and assistance with rent to increase, so our 17th annual Housing for Everyone grant program centers on supporting those organizations delivering rental assistance, rehabilitating affordable housing properties, and building organizational capacity to address resident sustainability for the long-term,” said Paige Carlson-Heim, Director of the TD Charitable Foundation.

Since its founding, the Housing for Everyone grant competition has granted more than $42 million in funding across over 500 housing initiatives. The program aligns with TD’s mission to enrich communities and provide individuals with greater financial confidence. In addition, through the TD Ready Commitment, TD’s corporate citizenship program, TD is targeting $775 million towards community giving by 2030 across four drivers of change – Financial Security, Vibrant Planet, Connected Communities, and Better Health – to open the doors to a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow.

To be eligible, the applying organization must be an affordable housing provider who is preserving or rehabilitating affordable housing, providing rental assistance funds, and seeking to strengthen organizational capacity.
