Trenton-Based Agency to Host Statewide Fatherhood Conference

The Father Center of New Jersey will be hosting its first-ever statewide conference next week. Dr. Wade Horn will be the Keynote Speaker for the conference to be held on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022. Led by CEO Karen Andrade-Mims, The Father Center of New Jersey is endeavoring to stress the importance of the role of fathers within both families and society at large through a conference covering critical fatherhood-focused topics. “We are elated to have Dr. Wade Horn as the keynote speaker for this event because his work reflects our mission for this event and for our organization.”

Co-author of the Better Homes and Gardens New Father Book: What Every Man Needs to Know to Be a Good Dad and author of the nationally syndicated column “Fatherly Advice,” Wade Horn, Ph.D., is a clinical child psychologist and former president of the National Fatherhood Initiative. Horn is the former Commissioner for Children, Youth, and Families and Chief of the Children’s Bureau within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as well as a presidential appointee to the National Commission on Children. Prior to these appointments, Horn was director of outpatient psychological services at the Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and an associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at George Washington University.

In addition to Dr. Horn, the conference will feature presentations by The Father Center’s CEO, Karen Andrade-Mims, MPA, the Federal Regional Administrator, Alfonso Nicholas , Department of Children and Families Commissioner, Christine Norbut Beyer, M.S.W., Senator Troy Singleton, Eugene Schneeberg of the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse, Bill Davis, Carter Patterson, Randall E. Toby, and Marc Warren from The Father Center of NJ.

The Father Center of New Jersey’s name reflects the strength of a continued mission: to support men in gaining the skills and meeting the responsibilities of fatherhood. The agency’s career counseling and workforce development programs create opportunities for fathers to gain skills and show up for their families. The Father Center is the oldest child welfare organization in New Jersey was founded in 1859 as an orphanage for children who were abandoned, neglected, and/or abused. Over the years the agency has evolved to meet the needs of the community by fostering family and child wellbeing, and has transitioned gradually to an award-winning organization serving over 800 men per year.
