#GivingTRENTON Day 2021 Encourages Local Giving

Trenton Health Team is partnering with other community nonprofits to launch the 2021 GivingTRENTON Day fund-raising campaign supporting local programs making a difference in our city.

#GivingTRENTON DAY was inspired by #GivingTuesday, an international day of charitable giving celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This special day is an opportunity to join an international movement, while helping our own neighborhoods and families.

Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora recently proclaimed November 30, 2021 as #GivingTRENTON DAY, declaring “the purpose of #GivingTRENTON Day is to rally those within our City…and to encourage local giving that makes a tangible difference in our community…” (see proclamation here)

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a day encouraging people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

“Over the past 18 months, we have seen how grassroots generosity and community action are powerful forces for good,” said Gregory Paulson, executive director of Trenton Health Team. “GivingTRENTON DAY is an opportunity to help support neighbors who are struggling.”

Participating nonprofits include members of Trenton Health Team’s Community Advisory Board, such as:

“At Arm In Arm we believe it takes our whole community working together to ensure our community thrives,” said Maureen Hunt, chief development officer. “We are thrilled to join our Trenton non-profit partners in shining a light on our local community, and encouraging people to not only participate as part of the national Giving Tuesday effort, but also to take action to support their local community…The need in our community is there this year, more than ever, as our neighbors continue to navigate the challenges brought about by the pandemic. Take action today and support #GivingTrenton.”

Mercer Street Friends “is honored to join our partners in Trenton in recognizing the power of philanthropy and the role it plays in making lives better,” said Vickie Bixel, MSF Lead, Development and Communications. “We are grateful to stand with Trenton Health Team and an extraordinary group of community-centered organizations in raising awareness around our missions and encouraging philanthropic investment in our city and our neighbors.”

Throughout the pandemic, dozens of Trenton organizations have teamed up to meet unprecedented needs for food, housing, health care and mental health services. In addition, health care providers, schools, community groups and local merchants have partnered to provide widespread access to free COVID-19 vaccines. To find local vaccine sites, visit trentonnj.org/covid or call 609-256-4010.

“The threat of COVID-19 remains — especially for the unvaccinated,” Paulson noted. “Our community is making progress thanks to the dedication and cooperation of local nonprofits, business leaders and public officials.”
