Employees Needed for 2021 Cool Summer in The Capital City Programs

The Department of Recreation, Natural Resources, & Culture is welcoming applications for employment to support the 2021 Cool Summer in The Capital City programs and events that will run from Monday, June 21 through Monday, September 6, 2021. The duration of employment varies between the three programs available.

The Department of Recreation, Natural Resources, & Culture is looking to hire 53 individuals to fill positions in the Summer Food Service Program, which provides free, nutritious breakfast and lunch to children in low income areas and helps the youth get the nutrition they need. These meals support the children as they learn, play and grow throughout the summer months when they are out of school.

The Summer Food Service Program is looking to hire one coordinator, one assistant coordinator, one book keeper and one secretary. In addition, they are looking to employee four monitors, 15 site supervisors, 15 assistant site supervisors and 15 student assistants. Payment varies between positions.

The Department is also looking to hire 83 workers within the Division of Pools Program, which is responsible for maintaining five public swimming pools for public use. Positions available include one summer pool coordinator, one assistant pool coordinator and one security guard supervisor. They are also looking to hire 10 pool managers, 30 pool security and 40 lifeguards. Payment varies between positions.

Within the Take It To The Streets Program, which employees help to implement indoor and outdoor summer program activities, the Department is looking to hire one site supervisor and eight student assistants. Payment varies between positions.

Tentative interviews will be scheduled beginning the week of Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 23. All candidates must pass a background check and medical screening to be hired by the City of Trenton. Anyone under the age of 18 will need working papers before beginning employment. Proper identification is required (i.e. driver’s license, school ID, birth certificate, social security card and proof of residency).
