Affordable housing and Market rate construction: On June 20, 2017, Governor Christie announced that the Department of Community Affairs will appropriate a total of $9 million dollars in the construction of market rate and affordable housing in the Hanover Academy, Mill Hill and train sections of the city. The project will fund 50-60 low-to-moderate income affordable housing units in the city.
Citywide Demolition project: The newly minted Urban Blight Reduction Pilot program will implement a demolition of approximately 500 dilapidated and blighted housing units in the city of Trenton. Governor Christie announced that the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) will fund $11.5 million dollars for this effort.
Construction of Downtown Pedestrian Bridge: On June 14, 2017, Governor Christie and Mayor Eric Jackson announced the construction of a new pedestrian footbridge, which will connect the Mill Hill and Stacy Park neighborhood's to the downtown riverfront. The Department of Transportation and the Department of Environmental Protection will implement the completion of the project.
State-of-the Art Renovation of Cadwalader Park: In June 2017, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the city of Trenton announced a collaborative effort to renovate Trenton's historic Cadwalader Park. The pathways, stairways and playground equipment will undergo a complete restoration.
